Annemarie Shrouder![]() Annemarie Shrouder
Beeing.ca has been helping organizations build equitable and inclusive environments since 2004.
We work on diversity broadly, but we specialize in creating LGBTQ-inclusive and safe spaces, and our passion is schools. Annemarie Shrouder has been teaching, writing, and presenting on diversity and inclusion for over 14 years. An engaging and dynamic speaker and presenter, she is passionate about creating safe and inclusive spaces, where all people can thrive and reach their potential. As a biracial lesbian of colour, Annemarie understands how perspective can make a big difference - it's why raising awareness is the foundation of everything she does. Specializing in LGBTQ safe spaces has been an organic process - partly because of who she is, partly through the work that has come our way, and partly because this seems to be one of the more difficult diversity topics for people to grasp. Her background as a teacher means that school communities are dear to her heart. And what better place to create inclusion and safety than in schools, so kids can grow up feeling good about themselves (and staff have a great place to work!). Annemarie has been an elementary school teacher, a curriculum developer and reviewer, has helped with the Ontario Ministry of Education's Equity & Inclusive Education Strategy, is the author of The School That Equity Built, has designed the Diversity Strategy for The Canadian Diabetes Association, has written the LGBTTTQQI Strategy for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health which has led to exciting changes, and has designed and developed workshops for 6 years -including LGBTQ Safe Space workshops for Egale Canada and LGBTQ-Positive Space workshops for OCASI. She has spoken and facilitated workshops at conferences and AGMs. Contact Annemarie: By phone: 416 910 8653 Skype: ashrouder Email: ashrouder@beeing.ca |
