@ SCHOOL
Safer and more inclusive schools are important for students as well as teachers
Feeling safe to be all of who you are increases:
- self esteem
- engagement
- teamwork, and
- productivity
School Staff
Creating classroom environments that are inclusive helps students to see themselves in the curriculum. What we learn about has value, so learning about people like us is important. And who you are as a teacher is part of the curriculum.
Raising awareness and creating more inclusive curriculum for your students increases:
- self esteem
- engagement
- productivity
- attendance
- safety (physical and emotional, especially for LGBTQ students)
Schools are workplaces too!
Inclusive schools benefit teachers in all of the above ways as well.
School Administrators
Creating safer and more inclusive schools is not just reactive, it's proactive. A school environment that supports and values all types of diversity (and specifically and LGBTQ-inclusive environment) allows both students and staff to reach their potential.
Raising awareness and creating inclusive and safe schools increases:
- teamwork
- engagement
- productivity
- attendance
Bill 157 mandates school staff to address and report bullying and violence.
